The traffic movement was suspended on Srinagar-Jammu national highway after shooting stones and mudslides blocked the road, officials said on Monday.
They said that the rains continued in Qazigund, Banihal and Ramban areas while snowfall was witnessed in upper reaches and villages of Banihal including Mahoo, Mangit and Patnitop.
A traffic official said that there were intermittent shooting stones at Panthyal and Cafeteria Morh and mudslides near Nashri.
“Traffic movement was stopped. No traffic was allowed from Jammu and Srinagar,” he said.
The road was blocked at many places between Chnaderkote and Banihal.
“NH 44 UPDATE: Traffic halted due to mudslide and shooting stones in various places. Traffic will resume as and when rain stops and the road gets cleared, ” said Mohita Sharma, SSP, traffic, national highway.
