Jammu Police on Tuesday have arrested three inter-state narcotic smugglers with a contraband of heroin worth crores and cash, suspected to have been dropped by a drone, from near Narwal area here.
Additional Director General of Police Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said that while working on specific information, police team recovered 12 kg heroin and around Rs 11 lakh cash during a special naka established in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bahu Fort. The approximate value of drugs seized is around Rs 24 crore in the international market, he revealed.
The top cop said Jammu Police led by SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, working on a tip off laid a special naka by special police teams constituted under the supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma, SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and led by SHO PS Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali.
Three suspects travelling in the car having Punjab registration were rounded up and during search, 12 Kgs of heroin and cash Rs 11 lakhs was recovered from them.
A case was registered in this regard and investigation started.
Singh identified the accused as Sarvwan Singh, Malkeet Singh and Balbir Singh, all residents of Amritsar.
The ADGP said that Jammu Police is working tirelessly to uproot the chain of drug supply in the region.
“Thorough questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain the origin of the drugs, taking into account the linkages and from the packing material of the drugs, it appears to have been dropped by drones,” he said.
