In Baramulla, 356 people were arrested under the NDPS Act in 10 months.

Baramulla police has been resolute in their campaign to combat drug addiction in society, making significant progress over the past 10 months. They have arrested 356 individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and filed 242 cases. Additionally, seven more arrests were made under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act/PSA.

In a notable achievement, the police have frozen properties worth Rs 2.3 crore, including three residential houses, three vehicles, and a substantial cash sum of Rs 1.2 crore, following due legal procedures.

During this period, the police seized various drugs, including 2.67 kgs of Brown Sugar, 4.527 kgs of Heroin, 11.808 kgs of Charas, 198.692 kgs of poppy straw, and cannabis powder. They also confiscated Rs 1.13 crore in cash and 31 vehicles valued at around Rs 59.04 lakhs. The estimated international market value of the seized contraband is over Rs 3.47 crore. Altogether, the total value of seized property, contraband, vehicles, and cash for the year stands at Rs 12 crores and 68 lakhs.

Baramulla police has taken the lead in the fight against drug smugglers and actively engaged the support of civil society and religious leaders. Their efforts have garnered appreciation from the people of Baramulla, who have pledged to assist in eradicating the drug menace from society.
